This playbook contains the step-by-step instructions to follow when creating a new SEO-optimized article for Locusive. It’s an 11-step process, some of which have multiple sub-steps, and it will generally take 2-3 hours to complete, but at the end of the process, we’ll have a new long-form SEO-optimized article on an important topic that we want to rank for.

During the process, you may need to do some work manually (i.e. identifying the topic you want to write about, or replacing placeholders with values you may have come up with in previous steps), but the majority of the process will use Generative AI tools like ChatGPT or Claude to do the heavy lifting.

Important prerequisite: In order to get started, we need to maintain a running list of topics and “hub” content that we’ve identified as being important to our customers. We keep a running list of that content in a page that we refer to as our “Content Map”, and we have a list of keywords we’d like to target on a separate page, where we keep track of popular keywords and keywords that are driving to our site.

It’s also important to maintain consistency - every month we should do an audit of our existing content and update it, add cross-links, and even remove poorly performing articles. We also post at least weekly on new topics or areas that our customers are likely interested in.
